Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across central Kentucky and the Bluegrass

Vent & Register Cleaning

We clean supply and return vents, registers and grilles in homes across Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia. This is the job you need when the metal faces are furred with dust, when the air coming out smells stale, or when a room got remodeled and drywall grit ended up in the boot below the register. Call us and describe what you are seeing. We will walk the house, pull covers, and tell you whether the vents alone are the problem or the duct run behind them needs attention.

What the job involves

We pull each register and grille, take it outside or to a wash area, and clean both faces along with the louvers you cannot reach with a vacuum wand. Then we get into the boot underneath, which is where dust, pet hair and construction debris collect and sit right in the airstream. Return grilles usually hold the most because that is the direction the air is moving. We reinstall everything square so the dampers still open and close the way they should.

What we check while the covers are off

With the register out we can see things a homeowner never gets to see. We look at the condition of the boot, whether the duct is still sealed to the floor or wall, and whether flex duct has slumped or torn behind the opening. We check that dampers move and are not painted shut. If a room has always run hot or cold, this is often where the answer shows up. We can replace cracked, rusted or painted-over registers with covers that actually seat and adjust.

How we decide it is the right call

Vent and register cleaning is the right start when the mess is visible at the openings and the rest of the system tests clean. If we find heavy buildup deep in the trunk lines, moisture, or a filter that has been bypassed for years, we will say so and quote full duct cleaning instead of selling you a smaller job twice. In older farmhouses where ductwork was added long after the house was built, we often find open joints that matter more than the dust does.

Vent & Register Cleaning — quick answers

Will cleaning my vents fix a dusty house?

Sometimes. If the buildup is at the registers and boots, cleaning helps. If dust keeps returning, the cause is usually a leaky return, a poor filter fit or duct joints pulling air from a crawlspace or attic.

Do you clean return grilles too?

Yes, and they usually need it most. Return openings pull household air toward the blower, so hair and lint pack the grille and the cavity behind it. We clean both sides and check the filter seat.

How often should this be done?

Most homes do fine every few years, sooner after remodeling, new flooring or a pet-heavy season. If you can see gray fuzz on the louvers or feel weak airflow from one room, have us look now.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. That detail tells us what parts to bring along.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow and the equipment itself before we quote anything. If the problem sits in the ductwork rather than the unit, we say so plainly.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and explain

Most air conditioning repair and heating repair work finishes in one visit. We show you the failed part, explain what caused it, and tell you what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • Propane and dual fuelPlenty of homes in our service area run propane heat or a dual fuel setup with a heat pump. We know how those systems switch over and why a bad changeover setting can leave you cold and burning fuel.
  • Older houses, added ductworkFarmhouses often got ducts decades after they were built, run through crawl spaces and attics. When the equipment tests fine but rooms still fight each other, we look at the duct runs and static pressure.
  • Repair before replacementA failed capacitor, a cracked wire, a clogged drain or a bad control board is a repair, not a new system. We tell you when the equipment is genuinely finished and when it is not.
  • Plain talk on the phoneWe ask what the thermostat reads, whether the outdoor unit is spinning, and when it last worked normally. That two minute conversation often shortens the visit and keeps the repair cost down.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
